The Practice

Tim Waller BA(Hons) MSc PgDip MRTPI, Director

Tim began his career in local government, working for East Hertfordshire and South Cambridgeshire District Councils, on the preparation and examination of Local Plans. Following this, he joined the independent planning consultancy JB Planning Associates in Hertfordshire for several years, working on a wide variety of projects but specialising in major planning applications for a variety of uses and in promoting land for inclusion within Local Plans.

Since setting up Waller Planning in early 2015, Tim has continued to work on a wide variety of projects, large and small, for a range of clients. These include both individual bespoke houses and major developments of several hundred houses, business parks and major mixed-use developments.

The majority of the practice’s work is repeat business from existing clients, and it has never advertised beyond this website. Clients include private individuals, major land owners and private developers.

Tim has a clear focus on delivering value to his clients, gaining consent for viable developments. He believes in working closely with his clients and local planning authorities, to develop consensus on design and matters of detail. However, he is also happy to take a project to appeal where necessary, where he has had great success.

Christine Thomson BSc(Hons), Senior Planner

Christine has a background working in the agricultural and environmental sciences, and she joined Waller Planning in 2017. Since then, Christine has worked on a wide range of projects, particularly including residential developments, both large and small. She has developed a particular interest in projects centred around the refurbishment and conversion of historical buildings. Christine is working towards gaining chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
