Working with Argento Design Studio, we came up with the concept of a new use for a brownfield site, on which planning permission had repeatedly been refused for residential development, prior to our involvement. The site is located next to the A1 national trunk road, and it was originally constructed as a petrol station in the 1960s, whilst since then it had been used for various commercial purposes, most recently as car sales. We spotted a literal gap in the market, given the scarcity of charging infrastructure on the strategic road network, and we secured planning permission for the site to be redeveloped to create a modern version of a petrol station, as a café with electric vehicle charging points for the customers.
